Discover the Value
of Flame Roasted
Grains!
During the last 15
years, exciting
statistics began to
emerge which showed
the dramatic
benefits to equine
health when they are
fed roasted grains
and roasted
soybeans.
There
are several
contributing
factors:
-
Roasting
technology,
especially that
of live-fire
roasting, has
improved to
produce uniform,
high-quality
products with
vastly reduced
pathogens and
contaminants.
-
Horse owners are
more
performance-oriented
than ever.
-
Breeders are
more aware of
the fertility,
soundness,
mortality and
birth-defect
issues
associated with
Feed
contaminants.
-
Research has
developed a far
better
understanding of
the role of fat
in the equine
diet.
-
The economics of
grain production
and shipping
costs have
pressured the
alert horse
owner to the
need to "do more
with less" by
maximizing grain
value while
minimizing grain
volume fed.

Why Should I Feed Flame
Roasted Grains?
Feeding
flame-roasted grains to your horse has many advantages in terms
of health, digestion, reproduction, and palatability.
The oils
in some small grains are a source of Omega 3 fatty acids,
and because lecithin is an important digestible aid,
which increases the digestibility of all feed consumed, it makes
good sense to preserve it. Flame-roasting preserves these oils
in all small grains and does not remove the lecithin.
The
enhancement of aroma and palatability are yet another
benefit of flame-roasted grains. This advantage permits us to
manufacture mixed feeds, with a full compliment of vitamins and
minerals, without requiring added molasses.
Digestibility is significantly increased by roasting.
Therefore, full value can be obtained while feeding up to 50%
less. This allows for a smaller meal size, as recommended by
many veterinarians.
Flame-kissed roasting reduces moisture in grains and kills
molds, fungus, E. coli, botulism and salmonella, and stops the
production of mycotoxins. Because these contaminants become
concentrated in grains, they result in the deaths of thousands
of horses every year, and an incalculable number of colics!
These products are far safer.

How to Feed
Less Concentrates
Researchers
and veterinarians today are
telling us that one
effective way to avoid many
of the health problems to
which horses are prone, is
by feeding less concentrates
(grain). Because hay and
pasture quality differs so
much, this is easier said
than done! Hay and pasture
that keep one horse round
and fat will be extremely
inadequate for another.
In a
nutritional leap forward,
Virginia Equine Research,
LLC and Morgan Mills have
invested in the processing
equipment required to
flame-roast whole grains and
are now offering these
flame-kissed roasted
varieties of grains and
feeds to horsemen and
horsewomen.
The increased
digestibility imparted by
this flame-kissed roasting
process will allow you to
reduce the size of your
horse's ration by up to 50%.
So, if you
are ready to "get in sync"
with the latest research and
veterinary recommendations,
this will be the year for
you and your horses to make
a leap forward...
for their health and your
peace of mind.

What
About Cost?
Our flame-roasted grains are gentler to the
digestive system and nearly twice as digestible. This allows you
to feed the smaller quantities of grain (and most veterinarians
are suggesting just that), while easily maintaining body
condition and energy, without the need for any
supplements. Cost evaluations of most feeding programs save
owners 30% to 50% on their monthly feed bills.
See our
Price Comparison sheet for
examples of how the nutritionally complete feeds formulated by
Virginia Equine Research actually cost less, pound for pound,
than leading commercial feeds.
